Fabián González Escobar
Biography:
Fabián González Escobar (Havana, 1994), graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts «San Alejandro» 2013 and the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) 2019 in Havana. His work is multidisciplinary and is developed in different media such as painting, photography, video, animation and digital art. He received the second prize in the renowned Camagüey International Video Art Festival in its VII edition in Cuba. He has participated in virtual exhibition projects such as Hot Wheelz Festival based in Chicago. Selected in 2020 as part of the collective Proyecto Boomerang Vol.1 at the Continua Gallery in Havana.
He is co-founder and member of the art collective FM7, together with Mario Sergio Alvarez, since 2015 and co-founder of A Week for an Artist (AWA), a virtual art platform on Instagram: @a_week_for_an_artist, that promote mainly Cuban artists. The works of the FM7 collective have been exhibited in institutions and public and private events in Cuba and abroad, such as the III Asunción Biennial in Paraguay; Lyon Biennial of Contemporary Art in France; Havana Art Biennial, Cuba; Cuban Art Factory; Ludwig Foundation of Cuba; Collage Habana Gallery, Taller Gorría Gallery, among others. In 2017 they received the Residency «Art on Location: Artist, Site, and Process» at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC); the Creation Scholarship «El Reino de esteMundo» granted by the Hermanos Saíz Association of Cuba (AHS) and the Norwegian Fund for the production of Cuban films.
